Year 12 Advanced English Focus Area Incursions
Facilitator: Emily Bosco
Running time: 50–60 minutes
Delivery modes: In person or online via Zoom
Fee: $25 per student, GST inclusive
Minimum booking fee: Each incursion has a minimum charge of $2,000, equivalent to 80 students.
For bookings of fewer than 80 students, the minimum incursion fee of $2,000 applies. For bookings of more than 80 students, the fee is calculated at $25 per student.
Multiple incursion discount: Schools booking two or more incursions on the same day or across consecutive days receive a 10% discount on the incursion fees.
Travel fee: Travel and accommodation are charged separately for in-person incursions outside the Riverina region. From 1 July 2026, our travel fee is $650, GST inclusive.
Online incursions via Zoom are charged at the same student rate and minimum booking fee, but do not attract a travel fee.
Materials: All students receive an incursion booklet.
Textual Conversations Essay Writing Incursion Description
Designed to strengthen students’ understanding of the Textual Conversations focus area, this incursion helps Year 12 Advanced students get to grips with their comparative study and prepare for analytical writing in assessment and examination contexts by:
Clarifying the key concerns of Textual Conversations, including how comparison can reveal resonances and dissonances within and between texts.
Helping students develop strong, adaptable essay arguments about their text pairing, with a focus on comparative writing, close textual analysis, evidence, and drawing insights.
Walking students through a practice examination-style question so they can build a thesis, plan a line of argument, and understand how to write with confidence and precision.
Each incursion is tailored to the prescribed text pairing your students are studying.
Critical Study of Literature Essay Writing Incursion Description
Designed to strengthen students’ understanding of the Critical Study of Literature focus area, this incursion helps Year 12 Advanced students get to grips with their prescribed text and prepare for analytical writing in assessment and examination contexts by:
Clarifying the key concerns of a critical study of literature, including how to develop an informed personal response to their prescribed text.
Helping students develop strong, adaptable essay arguments about their prescribed text, with a focus on close textual analysis, evidence, and drawing insights.
Walking students through a practice examination-style question so they can build a thesis, plan a line of argument, and understand how to write with confidence and precision.
