Richard II Student eBook
Richard II: A Critical Study of Literature engages students in an insightful and detailed study of William Shakespeare’s Richard II for the NSW Stage 6 English Year 11 Critical Study of Literature focus area. It has been designed to deepen critical knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the play as a substantial literary text.
To develop their own interpretation of Richard II, students will work through a variety of activities that require them to respond to the play in both critical and creative ways. These include tasks that guide students to compose in imaginative, persuasive, and discursive styles of writing. By completing the activities in this student book, students will enhance their understanding of: the play’s content and genre, the ideas and issues Shakespeare encourages audiences to think about, the language of the play, and its structure.
Students will also learn how to support their judgements with close textual evidence, while developing their engagement with scholarly perspectives through independent research.

Engaging classroom activities to build skills in analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of texts
