In English, the only way to improve your exam results is to do more exams!

This is because there is a huge difference between writing a prepared essay or writing just 1 essay in 40 minutes and writing 3 essays in 2 hours under exam conditions! 3 essays in 2 hours requires composure, clarity of thought, proper planning, sound decision-making and stamina. These skills can only be developed through practice!

This is the reason why we began running our HSC English Mock Exams 5 years ago – to provide students with the means of sitting HSC-style exam papers within the allocated time, allowing them greater exposure to the exam format, producing improved trial and HSC exam results!

Each year, students who sit our mock exams see an improvement of 8-10 marks in their results for each English paper, when comparing their mock exam result to their actual trial or HSC exam result. This often means we see students perform up to a whole band better in their actual trial and HSC exams because they have had greater exam experience prior to sitting these exams.

All exam papers are marked by experienced HSC English teachers and returned to students with in-response comments, a full marker’s report detailing areas for improvement and marking guidelines.

Student Testimonials

The Mock Trial Examinations were very helpful in terms of practicing within a timed, exam-like atmosphere. The marker’s comments were very specific and included advice on how to improve in particular areas in order to get more marks.
— Keshini Nanthakumar, OLMC
The Mock Trial Examinations gave me insight into my strengths and weaknesses, highlighting areas that needed refining and correction. The detailed marker’s feedback allowed me to reflect on the clarity of my arguments and come to a better understanding of the expectations of the HSC English exams.
— Alfred Hu, The Kings School
The Mock Trial Examinations really allowed me to have a proper examination experience. It helped me immensely in preparing my work in advance, meaning that I didn’t leave revision until the last minute.
