This incursion helps Standard and Advanced students to better understand the discursive writing style - in preparation for writing their own discursive pieces in assessment and examination contexts - by:

Clarifying the purpose of discursive writing, the most common features of pieces written in this style, and the ways pieces of writing can be structured.
Applying knowledge of the discursive writing style to exemplar texts.
Walking students through a practice examination question that requires them to produce a discursive piece.
